Ah, fixed mindset! This is the downfall for so many leaders who want to help their employees. They start to believe that they just “are the way they are” so they subconsciously stop putting any effort into believing they can change. AND they start to look at those employees through a lens of confirmation bias, where they regularly see, notice, and pay attention to the evidence that supports what they think they already know. People absolutely can change, and if you want to coach somebody, then you must believe they can, too!
